Focus Group Meeting May 29, 2003

Attending Gordon MacKenzie, Joe Hertlein, John Dalessio, Nancy Waymire, Philip Childress, and Jane Wheeler in hospital.

Called to order at 2:39pm.

  1. The Focus Group was issued 2 copies of the ADA report and 2 copies of Henry Ruhnke’s revised construction report. We reviewed these reports as much as time allowed.
  2. Gordon MacKenzie was asked about the Board of Commissioner’s meeting the night before. He said there was heated discussion about the ADA specific requirements, but the Board accepted the report and will review it in the next month or two.
  3. We need to question an ADA attorney to find out if there are any variances that would be acceptable under the current law. John Dalessio has been in contact with Senator Laird’s office re: State Health Dept. regarding ADA requirements.
  4. Joe Hertlein was comparing Henry Ruhnke’s report from Mar. 12, 2002 $7,800,000. Joe said it was raised by $775.000 (10% contingencies increase).
  5. John’s letter to Board chairman or the CVCC’s letter was not mentioned at the Board meeting. John wants to release letters to Kevin Howe of the Herald.
  6. The Focus Group approved this measure. We asked Joe Hertlein to review the ADA report further and give us a summary. Joe also reported that about 40% of the photos in Henry Ruhnke’s report of damage were directly attributed to poor maintenance by HA staffs.
  7. Additional question for Starla, where and when can we see the financial impact report that was discussed at the Board meeting?
